Since January 1, 2025, a project called the Communication Center has been in progress. The project was created by the Office of the Government Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities.

Two major organizations are also involved in the project:

  • The Polish Association of the Deaf (PZG).
  • The Polish Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities (PSONI).

What is the goal of the project?

We want every person with a disability to be able to communicate easily with others. We especially help people:

  • who are deaf or hard of hearing,
  • who are blind or visually impaired,
  • who have difficulty speaking,
  • who have an intellectual disability or autism.

Where can you find help?

  • The Communication Center’s headquarters is in Warsaw.
  • Sixteen Regional Communication Centers will be established throughout Poland.
  • At these locations, you will meet interpreters and specialists who will help you.

What else will we do as part of the project?

  • We will establish clear guidelines for assistance – so that everyone knows how to use a sign language interpreter, Braille, or real-time captions.
  • We will develop a mobile smartphone application – which will allow you to get help online, without leaving your home.
  • We will train interpreters – so they can improve their knowledge of sign language and learn how to better assist people who are deafblind.
  • We will create a learning website – for people who want to become communication specialists.
  • We will develop a digital interpreter – an intelligent computer program (AI) that will help translate Polish into sign language.
